Fitzgerald does this to expose the main topics of the novel, hope and dreams. He also does this to show just how hopeful Chip is about rewarding his goals.

2 . Computer chip starts the novel simply by relaying his father's advice " When you feel like criticizing anyone, remember all the persons in this world haven't had the advantages that you've got. " List Nick's positive aspects.

Chip has a school education and graduated from Yale.
