When the AIDS disease first came out, people thought that all the disease could be spread airborne, so any individual who seemed slightly homosexual was prevented. In The Crucible, people who were accused of witchcraft had been shunned just like the homosexuals had been in 1980s. If someone was supposedly a witch, they were arrested and cared for like they were the dirt and grime on the bottom of your person's footwear. Witches were avoided inside the Crucible as the people of Salem thought that all if these people were even nearby the witches then simply there was an opportunity that they would become a witch too.
